Occupational Health & Safety – OH&S

45001 ISO standard cena sertifikat sertifikacija Srbija

ISO 45001 is an international standard that defines the requirements for occupational health and safety (OH&S). It is intended for organizations that recognize the importance of the safety and health of their employees across all industries. By implementing ISO for occupational health and safety, organizations gain the trust of stakeholders by demonstrating that management is committed to meeting legal and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices in workplace safety and health. The focus is on preventive activities rather than corrective actions.

The foundation for OH&S is compliance with the Law on Occupational Safety and Health. Link to the law.

ISO 45001 covers:

  • Hazard identification, risk assessment, and control determination
  • Legal and other requirements
  • Safety and health goals and protection programs
  • Resources, roles, responsibilities, and authorities
  • Competence, training, communication, participation
  • Operational control, emergency preparedness, and response
  • Measurement, monitoring, and performance improvement

The result is documentation, including procedures, instructions, and records, that describe processes to improve the working conditions of employees.

Benefits of ISO 45001 Certification:

  • Enhanced protection for employees
  • Increased trust from stakeholders
  • Improved productivity
  • Reduced costs and expenses due to workplace injuries and occupational diseases
  • Encouraged management participation and responsibility
  • Reduced risk of hazards

Costs: Implementing the ISO 45001 standard may require certain financial investments in reorganizing work or production spaces, acquiring adequate personal protective equipment for employees, hiring certified companies to conduct workplace risk assessments, preparing risk assessment documents, testing workplace conditions, and periodic equipment inspections.

However, the need for financial investment is not solely determined by the standard itself but is also influenced by current legal regulations, which are strictly required by certain provisions of this standard. The cost of certification depends on factors such as the type of business, process complexity, number of employees, number of locations, and other parameters.

Difference between OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001:

OHSAS 18001, developed by certification bodies in the UK, was used for occupational health and safety worldwide. It focused exclusively on workplace-specific risks, while ISO 45001 is based on a process approach and considers both risks and opportunities. ISO 45001 also addresses external safety risks in the workplace, considering both internal and external risks and opportunities, whereas OHSAS primarily focused on internal risks.

By obtaining the ISO 45001 certificate, your organization proves its commitment to managing the safety and health of its employees, who are its most valuable resource.
